Hindmarsh - The Queen Elizabeth Hospital New Diabetes and Pain Management Unit

Project Overview
The project will deliver:
• A new Diabetes Service and Pain Management Unit delivering improved specialist care in a brand-new facility
• 16 extra surgical beds and 20 general medical beds, finalises the 36 additional new inpatient beds to support increased demand across the TQEH network

Fast-Tracked Stages:
 The project team has successfully handed over the first two stages, with 26 of these beds opening ahead of schedule while working within a live hospital environment.

New Facilities:
 In addition to the beds, the project includes a new Diabetes Service and a Pain Management Unit.

Infrastructure Context: These beds are part of a broader expansion of the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, which included 52 extra inpatient beds, 15 emergency department beds, and a 13-bed "Urgent Care Hub" (formerly BRIGHT) that opened in July 2024.
